I have always been a morning person and consequently so in need of a perfect morning routine. To be honest my I can’t stand the same routine for more than two weeks. And the ‘wake up and repeat the same activities every day’ thing really bothers me. But creating a new morning routine is stressful enough for me, thanks to my perfectionism. So I try to switch up my morning routine frequently in a less stressful manner. And recently I figured out some things to do to accomplish this. so in this blog post, I will share these steps to build your perfect morning routine. If you are like me, in a desperate need for a new routine, I certainly hope these strategies will help you do that.
SWITCH UP YOUR SORROUNDINGs
This is a perfect thing to do to feel new and fresh. Whenever I want to feel more present and have a fresh start, I switch things around my bedroom. And I recommend you do this just the day before you plan to follow your new morning routine. You can move up some furniture or add new items to your room so it feels different. Trust me this will make a great difference in you, so when you wake up the next morning you will feel like a new person with this new ambiance.And we need this feeling of new beginnings when we change our routines.
WATCH MORNING ROUTINE VIDEOS
who doesn’t love watching morning routine videos on youtube? seriously, they are the most aesthetic videos on youtube. plus they have a lot of ideas for me to set up my routine. Not gonna lie I want to have an aesthetically pleasing routine just like in those videos, and also does anyone who watches such routine videos. Kalyn Nicholson’s routine videos are my all-time favorites. And when you are watching these videos, always remember to jot down the aspects of their routine you love, to help you in the next step to build your perfect morning routine.
MAKE A LIST OF HABITS TO INCLUDE IN YOUR ROUTINE
Now is the actual planning time. Take a pen and paper and list down the habits you would like to include in your routine. You can also use some ideas from the videos you have watched. Also, remember this is your routine and you only have to add what actually works for you. And if you are interested to include a lot of habits, I recommend you take it slow. Choose one habit to try first and try it for a week or so. If it’s not working for you drop it and try another habit. And eventually, you will know what works and doesn’t, so you can include the most practical habits to your routine.
REMOVE UNNECESSARY ACTIVITIES
Remember, your time is valuable, especially in the mornings. So to use it wisely, you should remove every unnecessary and destructive activity. You know what I am saying; stop spending a lot of your precious morning hours on self-sabotaging things like, scrolling through social media, hours of listening to music, etc. Starting your day with such negative affairs will definitely result in a distracted day ahead. So try to remove such bad habits gradually if not all at once.
SWITCH UP HABITS
This a minute change which will help you create a new routine. The process is simple: for example, If you always have tea or coffee first thing in the morning you can switch it with yoga, meditation, or journaling, and have your morning hot drink later on. This is the key to creating a new morning routine. When you switch almost all your habit from the current order and set up reformed order for activities, you will have a new routine
TRY HABIT BATCHING
Habit batching means combining two or more habits together and do them both at the same time. If you didn’t get what I was saying, take a look at this example; if two things you have to include in your morning routine are having coffee and reading books, you can combine this both and have your coffee while reading your book. I have my cup of hot beverage, read a book, spend time in nature all at the same time. You can also listen to a podcast while making your breakfast. what I am saying is you have to combine a habit you detest with something you love to do. And In this way not only you can actually enjoy the habit you hate but also save a lot of time.
CHANGE THE TIME YOU WAKE UP
Some days when you wake up at a different time than your usual alarm you feel different, right? this is what we are using in this case . You have been waking up at the same time for a long now, and it won’t make a major difference if you wake up at the exact same time, even if you have switched up your entire routine. And also a different sky when you wake up, can make you feel different. So you can set your alarm at least half an hour early or a bit late if you feel like it. This will help you feel brand new cause its a different time than what you usually wake up at. But I recommend you to wake up early, so you have more time in your mornings. And who doesn’t want a stress free morning?
And last but not least just do it. Following all these strategies to build a morning routine on a piece of paper is easy, but to make it practical is hard. Don’t be afraid to try the routine you have built for yourself. Just set your alarm and wake up at the time you planned, and try your best to follow the morning routine you have set up. And it’s totally cool to switch up things any time you want. Also if you get tired of this morning routine follow these steps again to build a new one. it’s a lot easier than you think.
